The beginnings of our family forestry in its 5th generation lie in the Schwabenberg estate. This is situated in the Hochsauerlandkreis between the towns of Elpe, Ramsbeck and Heinrichsdorf, with one of the highest elevations in the Sauerland, the "Steinmarkskopf" at an altitude of 720m above sea level.

It is characterised by many steep slopes with a multitude of springs and wet valleys. The Schwabenberg forest is certified according to PEFC. Due to its exposed location, the forest district is constantly at the mercy of different natural catastrophes.

Whether by Lothar, Wibke, Kyrill or Emma - the various low-pressure systems mentioned here by name - the Schwabenberg forest constantly recovered in its laborious efforts of cultivation and natural regeneration.
Thus in our almost perfectly developed forest estate measuring 255ha and a sustainable annual felling averaging 1136 cubic-m(fm) solid measure of timber, virtually all of the storm damaged wood could be processed and sold. How the storm calamities (8-year felling) will affect the future cannot as yet be assessed 13 year after Kyrill.

Thanks to plenty of rainfalls and primitive limy shale rock, the district has enormous potential of natural regeneration of pine and beech. Success here is guaranteed all the more because of our cooperation with our game tenant for over 10 years now.
